Floyd Mayweather has revealed that he is quitting the sport for health reasons, ahead of his final professional fight against Andre Berto on Saturday, September 12.
Though, fans are tipping Mayweather to make a turn-around on his threat to walk away from the sport, the 38-year-old insists there is no going back after this weekend in Las Vegas.
Speaking ahead of the fight, the WBA Super and WBC welterweight champion said: “Number 49 is my last fight. No one is in my shoes. My health is more important.”
“You can make a lot more money but you still want to be able to talk and walk,” he continued.“My legacy is not being hit too much. I’m getting out at the top and most importantly with all my faculties intact.
Mayweather said Filipino Manny Pacquiao will be the best boxer when he finally retires from the sports.
He said: “Manny Pacquiao.” When asked who the best fighter will be when he retires. “We can’t take that away from Pacquiao, he is a great fighter. He is a great world champion and he is my toughest opponent.”
“When I’m done, after all he has done, he will be the best left. Others may come up behind us and there are some very good young fighters. But it takes more than that to be the best in the world. It takes personality. It takes experience. It takes achievement,” Mayweather added.
