Parents lament deplorable condition of Kings College

Kings College

Parents of students of Kings College, Lagos, have expressed disgust over the poor state of facilities in the school, which make the students to learn and live in a dirty environment, which also has no light and water.
The concerned parents also accused the school’s principal, Otunba Oladele Oladeju and the PTA chairman, Mr. Oriakhi Emmanuel of alleged corruption, misconduct, and impunity.

According to the leader of the concerned parents, Mr. Nwosu Obisike, the crisis in the school has been on since 2011 after petitions were sent to the Minister of State on Education and Federal Ministry of Education.
“The poor state of water supply and the unhygienic environment in the school has been traced to the cause of incessant hospitalization of our sons in the school. We found that in the Sheraton and PTA hostels there are insufficient toilets and also no water.”
According to him, the school premises has been turned into parking lot for cars belonging to some staff and visitors to the nearby. Also the school hall and field are now constantly used for corporate events instead of academic activities. Mr. Obisike said that the classrooms, which ideally should take an average of 35 students each, now have over 60 students in a class.
