Last minute change forbidden, the All Progressives Congress, APC may amend its list of preferred candidates for principal officers positions ahead of today’s resumption of the House of Representatives.
This is necessitated by the insistence of President Mohammadu Buhari who in a meeting with APC’s members in the House in Abuja last night stated that the party’s decision on the principal officers position must be respected.
APC had in a letter to the Speaker of the House said that certain names including that of Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila who contested the speakership but lost to Dogara be accommodated in the principal officers arrangements.
But envisaging some difficulty in acceptance the advice, President Buhari told Dogara’s group to forward whatever complaints they may have to the party’s national chairman, Chief John Oyegun to resolve the matter before the commencement of today’s plenary.
A source from Gbajabamila’s camp told us that they were at home with the president’s directive, saying that there was no need for the party to take any issues to the national chairman.
Earlier yesterday, the trio of Oyegun, Dogara and Gbajabiamila had said they meet after the meeting for further talks.
Nevertheless, it was discovered that several meetings were held last night at different palaces.
One of such meeting may have involved Dogara’s camp and APC national chairman on the need to replace list with some names pencilled down for the offices by the party.
But according to a source, the replacement may be necessary should Dogara raise the issue with the group.
