A teacher is being investigated after allegedly telling students to drink their own urine when they feel thirsty, police in Malaysia said. The incident unfolded at a school in Sungai Petani, Kedah. Parents of students publicized a letter about the incident on social media sites, prompting the police investigation.
According to the letter, the teacher told students not drink water in class, but to do so in the school restroom. The teacher also said that if students had no water, they could drink water from the toilet bowl or their own urine. The Department of Education is investigating the teacher.
The students are 11 years old. The teacher said that comment about drinking urine was a joke. Police also said that a Molotov cocktail was thrown at the school to protest the teacher’s actions.
No injuries or damage were reported.
