As the tenure of professor Attahiru Jega, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, formerly ends today, former vice president Atiku Abubakar has described it as a successful one.
Atiku said that the ingenuity of Jega to conduct the 2015 elections with the introduction of card reader and permanent voters card(pvc) earned him the respect of Nigerians and the international community.
Jega will bown out today after a 5year term in office. Atiku also said that Jega proved to the world that the country could still remain united after the elections. He also said that Jega made huge difference in the conduct of credible elections, and that he left no one in doubt that he deserved the
appointment in the first place.
He explained that he was impressby Jega's remarkable comportment, patience, calmness and presence of mind under very tense situation.
The former vice president noted that Jega had set a standard that would require his successor to build on.
