Chinese actress, singer, and model Angela Yeung—best known by her stage name, “Angelababy”—wed actor Huang Xiaoming in an extravagant ceremony that cost a staggering $31 million (rivaling Kate and William’s $34 million royal nuptials).
Dubbed the “Kim Kardashian of China,” Yeung spent nearly three times as much as her American counterpart on her big day (Kim and Kanye shelled out a relatively modest $12 million), celebrating the occasion alongside 2,000 guests—including many of Asia’s leading stars—at the Shanghai Exhibition Center on October 8.
Teeming with roses, the venue was outfitted with screens that displayed photos of the handsome couple, taken during a pre-wedding shoot in Paris (during which the bride posed in a series of Elie Saab couture gowns).
The elaborate ceremony—which was live-streamed online—boasted a holographic castle, not to mention a ten-foot cake shaped like a carousel (which reportedly took a month to make). Each attendee left the lavish event with a bagful of gifts, including a mobile phone.
The 26-year-old star—who began modeling at 14—wore a custom Dior gown that required almost five months to create. Made with 115 feet of ivory satin organza and 165 feet of tulle, the intricate piece features a 10-foot-long train and nearly a hundred hand-cut rose bouquets made of Chantilly lace.
Valued at over $1.5 million, Yeung’s wedding band—the JosĂ©phine Aigrette ImpĂ©riale ring, designed by Parisian jeweler Chaumet—showcases a five-carat pear-shaped diamond complemented by half a carat of brilliant-cut diamonds.
